Welcome to another very active year for the Sweetwater Oaks Garden Club.  Our Vice Presidents and Committee Chairmen have been busy over the summer planning monthly programs and activities for us all to participate in.  We hope you will take advantage and participate in the many areas of common interests our club has to offer. You will find there is something for everyone.

Sweetwater Oaks Garden Club'sfocus is on the environment, our youth and our community.  Each year we provide scholarships to college students, who are our future leaders, studying the fields of horticulture and the environment.  We support FFGC Wekiva Youth camp and sponsor campers to attend this wonderful nature camp each year. We also have an exciting monthly youth gardening program at the Star Child Academy located in ourWe have an active horticulture group that meet three times a year, tour fellow members gardens, share gardening tips and plants.  Several of our dedicated members meet at Hospice of the Comforter each week and create forty floral designs for patients and families.  Some of the Civic and Community organizations we support are:  Habitat for Humanity, The Nature Conservancy, Save A Manatee, Hospice, the Central Florida Zoo Botanical Garden and many FFGC Special projects. community.

The Card party is a 26-year tradition where members and guests can form a group, play a game of choice, and have a delicious lunch and a good time with their friends.  Our most successful community event is the Annual Garden Fair.  This event has received a huge response locally and people from all the surrounding communities look forward to coming back each year.  We have vendors with plants and garden related items for sale, a Flower Show Exhibit and attendees are able to learn about gardening and our environment from well-known, expert guest speakers. The Garden Fair keeps growing bigger and better each year!

We encourage each of you to participate in the many activities our club has to offer. We also encourage you to take advantage of the programs, seminars and symposiums that are offered by FFGC.  You will learn and also enjoy meeting other garden club members from around the state.  Keep your SWO monthly newsletter and yearbook on your desk so you can keep track of all of these activities.  We hope you will join us in another great garden club year!

Friendship in gardening.
